A Storied History
The legacy of Charles Harvey “Buck” Bradley, the original property owner, was born and raised in Indianapolis. He shared a lifetime friendship with John Holliday (for which Holliday Farms of Zionsville is named), as schoolmates at both The Park School and later at Yale. They also shared a love for the outdoors, active living, privacy, and tranquility. These things laid the foundation for this community and are deeply woven into Bradley Ridge.
Buck served as a decorated dive bomber pilot in WWII, earned a law degree from Yale, and left private practice in the early 60’s to join a growing company in his hometown, Eli Lilly, as an Assistant Attorney and Secretary to the Board, where over the course of 25+ years, he quickly rose to General Counsel and Senior Vice President at Eli Lilly until retiring in the late 80’s. His enduring friendship with George H.W. Bush, his Yale roommate and longtime friend, brought the President to this serene estate for relaxation and camaraderie. Despite his demanding career, Buck always valued nature and community, making this property his retreat and sanctuary.
Henke Development is honored to be entrusted with preserving Mr. Bradley's legacy through the thoughtful development of his former 350-acre estate. Before initiating the zoning process, our team met with the Bradley family to share our plans, and we are thrilled by their excitement and support. Throughout zoning, it was a privilege to collaborate with neighbors & community members, working together to protect Zionsville's rural character, native ecosystems, wildlife, and low residential density. This project exemplifies what makes Zionsville unique and aligns with the town's vision of maintaining a vibrant community with a small-town atmosphere, reflecting its cherished village heritage.
